Xabbu is a free program to help people memorize vocabulary in a different language that they want to learn. Xabbu is especially designed for efficiency and therefore supports very effective methods to collect the vocabulary and to learn it easy.

Xabbu was created to learn words as fast as possible. It was assumed that the Words to be asked wouldn’t exist in digital format. That means that the user has to type in the list of words which is the first step and then he has to learn those words as fast as possible.
Those are the two main tasks that Xabbu is built for besides many other special functions. It is now even possible to share the typed vocabulary in digital format between users so that the first task is already done for the user.

At the moment Xabbu has a very simple and fast way to record words. As a result the user spends little time typing in the words he wants to learn but as a result there are also some restrictions. In Xabbu you record a list of words and safe them in a “Vocabulary File”. This File is basically a table with three columns and some additional information about the author etc.
That means that Xabbu supports only text based recording and you that you can’t put a picture or a video to each word that Xabbu asks you.

The second main task that Xabbu should support was to offer effective ways to memorize the previously recorded words. The main idea was always that Xabbu asks the user the words and that the consumer learns this way the words by heart. Xabbu was built to learn vocabulary and often that can also mean to relearn old vocabulary. Therefore Xabbu has four different ways to ask the user the words he wants to memorize. Each way has its own advantages and disadvantages. Right now “Ask and Answer”, “Imagine”, “Matching” and “Multiple Choice” are supported.
